Implant pressure

Implant pressure

One thing that is not often mentioned much when discussing training for a figure competition is what happens to your breasts. I will try to keep the attention of my male readers (it may come as a surprise that almost half of my subscribers are men!) with plenty of appropriately-placed photos, but the issue is one I wanted to address as many people have asked me for my opinion.

Among the pro competitors, it’s almost expected for women to get implants if they are competing. At such a low level of body fat it’s impossible to have decent-sized natural breasts. Furthermore, to really embody the symmetry and femininity the figure category requires, you almost need to get implants and, unfortunately, it’s usually a case of the bigger the better to balance out your hips and legs.

While some report being penalised for not having implants, others report the exact opposite. As with most aspects of judging, it is difficult to know exactly what they are looking for. Looking at the physique of fitness models in magazines certainly leads me to believe you will benefit if you do get implants.

Nicole Wilkins-Lee...pre-surgery?

Nicole Wilkins-Lee and Oksana Grishina are pretty much the only well-known female competitors who do not have implants. Despite the fact that Nicole won Olympia au naturel, there are rumours circulating that she recently got implants.

My problem with the whole fake breasts issue boils down to whether the women want them or not. If a woman gets implants, is it because she has always wanted them or is it a desire borne by the fact that she has a reduced chest size? Of more significance, is it because she felt under pressure to conform to the unrealistic ideal the fitness industry has set for women?

Personally, I’m a little bit scared as to what will happen to my breasts. I’ve always been, ahem, well-endowed and it will be sad to see them go. Over the past few months of training I have dropped fat yet my boobs have miraculously gotten bigger – I’m spilling out of a 12C (34C for my US readers). I guess I know where all that chicken has been going! (As an aside, I thought I would spare you a picture of my breasts seeing as you’re probably still digesting my booty pictures!)

Even when I was at my leanest, I did not lose a significant amount of cleavage. I’m not deluded enough to think that my boobs won’t get tiny when I compete, but what I am hoping is that they will spring back to normal size post-comp. But there is only one way to find out!

I love Raechelle Chase, but her boobs are slightly ridiculous...

Right now, I have absolute zero desire to get implants. I’ve read way too many horror stories about botched procedures and long-term side effects. That being said, I don’t know how my body is going to respond to low body fat levels so I can’t rule it out completely. I do appreciate the fact that I have a so-called hourglass figure, and I’m not really keen to have a masculine chest.

Seeing as this topic is so hush-hush, I’m really curious to hear from any competitors out there (or anyone who has gotten that lean). How did your breasts change shape, and did you manage to regain any fat after competing? For the guys out there, do you find fake breasts attractive? Do you prefer the look of Raechelle or Nicole/Oksana?
