You guys must like it when I sound extremely arrogant, because I gained a bunch of new followers since my last post – thanks for sticking around and offering support too! My brain is too smushy to write a proper, coherent post today as I’ve already written 3000 words of financial jargon, so instead I bring you five things that are happening in my life right now.

1. I sprained my ankle
While I wish I could say I did it by being a star during the two hours of tennis I played yesterday, unfortunately it was when I was walking the short distance back to the car. There was a crack in the pavement and my ankle rolled the wrong way.

Almost exactly a year ago I sprained the same ankle (but that wasn’t my fault – some idiot tripped me over when I was running the Warrior Dash!) and I couldn’t do anything more strenuous than walking for six weeks. It’s not nearly as swollen as last time, and it seems to actually feel better when I walk on it. But my range of motion is definitely impaired which meant no leg workout for me this morning!

2. My diet has changed
After I wrote my own training program last week, I thought it would be a good idea to formally modify my diet following a lean out. Since Christmas, I’ve been adding more carbohydrates back into my diet – very slowly, as in one sweet potato fry at a time! I actually saw and felt like I was dropping more fat last week than before. On my low carb days I was only having about 60 grams of carbohydrates per day. That was apparently too little because after a few weeks my body stopped losing fat. When I added some extra carbs to my diet I felt hungry again and felt my body somehow burning more fat.

I’ve still only been eating sweet potato and oats for carb sources, but now I’m planning on adding some rice back into my diet. I’m not really looking to do a specific gaining phase, but I’m tired of leaning so just want to maintain for a while. It means I can experiment with some new recipes, like Jamie Eason’s chocolate protein bars.

This is the only baked protein recipe I've had that doesn't taste like a sponge!

3. I’m addicted to Dymatize
Speaking of food, Dymatize’s chocolate fudge whey protein powder is so good. I tried the cookies and cream Dymatize whey a few months ago (and reviewed it) to try something different from Optimum Nutrition. When that ran out I was going to go back to ON, but they didn’t have it in stock so I bought this one instead. WOW.

You know how all these protein powder companies claim to produce protein powders that taste like chocolate milkshakes, but don’t? Well, this one actually does! I’m hooked, and wish I could drink it all the time.

4. There is a CrossFit box 10 minutes from my house
All this time it has been right there! I feel like such an idiot for not realising it before, but now I’m stoked. I really want to try CrossFit, even if it’s just once, to see what all the fuss is about. My gym has run classes for a while, but they charge $50 for a 30 minute group session which is crazy. I hadn’t heard of anywhere else that did it, and I can’t believe it’s only two suburbs away! This place charges $30 for a one-off 60 minute class (which is still not exactly cheap, but hey), and your first class is free. They also do women’s only classes but I’d much rather get in there with the boys.

When I asked Rob do it with me, his response was: “I don’t want to be fit – I want to be big.” Sigh.

5. I have one week left of work!
It would be amiss of me to skip this point. Tomorrow I’m working from home and Thursday is a public holiday, so I really only have four days left in the office. And this time in six weeks we will be in Europe! I have so much to do before then but I’m trying to focus on the exciting aspect instead.
