Thank you all for your sweet comments on my last post. It really is an amazing feeling being able to do something you love, so I’m pleased that so many of you could relate. As it turns out, my post was rather timely in the end.
A couple of hours after I posted my blog, I went to meet some colleagues at a pub for my boss’s birthday. Being a male-dominated industry, I was the only woman out of about 10 men, but they assured me that another female trainer would soon be joining us. They said she was bringing a friend as a date, but the joke was obviously lost on me.
You can imagine my surprise when she turned up with her boyfriend, who just happened to be Matt LeBlanc. The pub was packed, and everyone in there was staring at us and trying to inconspicuously take his photograph. Maybe I’ll be in the paparazzi mags this week?!
Anyway, she was originally training Matt, and is now dating him. She is also opening her own private personal studio in two weeks, with everything being fully funded by another client of hers – who just happens to be a famous fashion designer in the UK. All of this was lost on my colleagues, who simply rolled their eyes and said: “Welcome to Kensington.”
I thought it was quite funny that a matter of hours after I post a blog about how much I love my job I meet another trainer who is clearly living the dream. Female PTs are quite rare over here, and I think there are some great opportunities out there for someone with the right attitude. Hopefully, I will be training (but not dating!) my own Joey soon 🙂
On a different note, you may have noticed that my blog looks different today (if you’re reading through a Reader, come on over!). I’ve been playing with a new look for about five weeks now, but I keep switching back to my old theme after a couple of hours at a time because I haven’t completely tweaked it. This time, I forced myself to keep it so that I would stop procrastinating and finish it!
There are still a number of things I’m trying to fix and change around (mainly my header – or lack thereof!), but I would really appreciate any feedback you have. I’m not good with HTML at all, but I think I’ve done an okay job so far. I’m crossing my fingers that it should be running perfectly by the end of this week, so please bear with me.
