An update on my job

An update on my job

Thank you all for the positive feedback on my last post! I will definitely be introducing a weekly fitness tutorial-type post. I just have to sort out some of the logistics in regards to filming, but hopefully I’ll have that part up and running soon. Please let me know in the comments if there are any particular exercises or concepts you would like me to cover.

I know it’s been a while since I updated you about my new job, but that’s mostly because there hasn’t been much to report. Building up clients is a slow and steady process, and there’s only so many times I can tell you how much I love training others!

Until now. This week, there was a rather significant change in my employment. For the past few weeks I’ve been helping the directors of the studio with the marketing side of the business, which has been going well.

So well, in fact, that I have now been promoted to operations manager. I am now working five days a week on the day-to-day, behind the scenes running of the business. I can’t believe I became certified only two months ago, and I’m now managing a gym. It seems the owners see something special in me, and I’m so glad I convinced them to hire me in the first place!

My working hours are pretty flexible, typically 11am to 4pm. I’m combining the role with the marketing and media side, and I’ve been given a lot of freedom in terms of coming up with ideas to advance the business. I currently oversee a team of 45 personal trainers (8 are contracted like me, and the rest hire the studio on a part-time basis).

My in-person training is going to be limited to 10-15 hours per week, which allows me to be incredibly selective about who I take on. Combined with my great team of online clients, I’m training a much higher calibre of clients than I expected!

I work with a great team of guys and I’m just so happy doing what I do. As many of you know, my intention was never to be a full-time personal trainer – I feel like there is only so much I can grow as a personal trainer, and I’m always going to be wanting more. I would love to open my own business one day, and this experience will be invaluable towards that. This job seems like the perfect fit for me.

Of course, the blog isn’t going anywhere!
