After almost a year of procrastination, I’m pleased to announce that I finally created a Facebook page for Sweat like a Pig. I will be sharing workouts, motivational tips and other bonus material not featured on the blog. Please like my page here!
In other news, who watched the Olympia this past weekend?! Last year, being in Australia, we got to watch the finals in the middle of the day which was perfect, but this year the time difference sucked – in London, we are eight hours ahead of Las Vegas. Instead of staying up all night, I woke up in the early hours of Sunday morning to check the results before going back to bed. So geeky.
I am so, so excited that Erin Stern reclaimed her Figure title! I thought she looked better than reigning champ Nicole Wilkins, especially in the lower body. But I didn’t get too excited because last year I thought the same thing!
My husband and I actually had a bet going – he was supporting Nicole and I, of course, was rooting for Erin. I have always liked Erin more. I think she has more of a classic figure, she always looks incredibly polished and there’s something so sweet about her personality as well. I love the fact she trains like an athlete and is honest about how far she’s come.
My prize is that I get to pick where we are going for our next (unplanned) trip in January. We are going to Edinburgh, Scotland in three weeks, and spending Christmas in Vienna, Austria. Any suggestions for after that?
Obviously, we also watched the heavyweight category. I’m starting to get better at figuring out what the judges are looking for. It was really, really close between Phil Heath and Kai Greene, but we both knew Phil really just had to show up to win.
We also watched the 212 posing and I saw some of the bikini. I just cannot get enough of Amanda Latona! It’s funny how she is such a crowd favourite but never places highly at the big events – just like Dana Linn Bailey.
I loved watching all the replays (find them here) – they are so motivational. When I see the best in the industry pouring their heart and soul into competing, it reminds me of why I was so attracted to the idea in the first place. This morning I had a great workout as I still had that Olympia buzz going. This is the kind of fitspiration I can handle.
Did you watch any of the Olympia? What do you think of the results?
