Nutrition & Training Services

Whether you’re beginning a brand new fitness journey, wanting to lose fat or looking to gain muscle, I can help you achieve your goals. I specialise in repairing metabolic damage and eating to achieve full health as well as muscle gain and fat loss. I have trained a wide variety of men and women of all ages, including complete beginners, novice bodybuilding competitors, professional tennis players and advanced powerlifters and strongmen/women. Please see below for testimonials from some of my past and current clients.

I provide individual nutrition and training programs specifically targeted towards your needs. Each program is uniquely designed relative to your background and your goals, based on my opinion that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to training. It is very important to have a trainer behind you that can analyse how your body is responding to certain foods and exercise and make modifications as you go along, as well as to hold you accountable.

I have coached more than 150 people through online programming, but limit places to 20 at a time to ensure I provide full attention to each client under my care. I will update the top of this page when all of my coaching spots are full.

Questionnaire:
If you are wondering whether online coaching is the best decision for you, please fill in this questionnaire and I will get back to you within 24 hours to let you know whether we will be a good fit together.

Program Details:
The programs below last six weeks unless specified otherwise, during which time you will receive unlimited email support from me (I respond to all emails within 24 hours). Based on progress pictures and self-reporting, I may modify the program at no extra charge if deemed necessary.

Online Nutrition Program – US$100
Following a review of your current eating habits, I will create a nutrition plan which provides a full macronutrient breakdown of your daily intake including meal suggestions. This will be very specific and will tell you exactly what portions to eat at what time. I can accommodate intermittent fasting, vegetarian and vegan diets, Paleo and other types of eating. I will provide a meal plan for workout days and non-workout days.

I do not promote starvation diets, so expect to eat substantial portions of healthy food. If your goal is to lose weight or build muscle, each nutrition program will last four to six weeks before needing alteration. I aim to educate my clients about proper nutrition so that you will be able to take charge of your own nutrition for the rest of your life. If you suspect you have metabolic damage, please email me to discuss your options or purchase the package below.

Online Metabolic Repair Nutrition Program – US$150
Metabolic damage caused by restrictive dieting and over-exercising is an issue which is all too common among women today. It is something which I have personally experienced and written extensively about on my blog. Healing a damaged metabolism is a complex process which involves taking a thorough client history and frequent client monitoring. As the plan will involve a fair amount of experimentation and modifications, this program will involve a slightly longer time frame of 12 weeks. You can expect to receive an initial nutrition plan for workout days and non-workout days, which I will then usually update every two weeks depending on how your body adjusts. This program will not heal your metabolism overnight, but it will enable you to gradually get healthy and eat more than you ever have before!

If you are unsure whether you have metabolic damage, please email me and we can discuss the best program for you. If you would like to combine this program with a training program, please see the option further down the page.

Online 6 Week Workout Program – US$100
Whether you’re unsure where to begin in the gym or have been training for years but are no longer seeing results, I will provide you with a unique six-week workout program which will be enjoyable yet extremely effective. Each program will suit your schedule and is based around your training preferences, but will also push you to new heights. Depending on your goals, you can expect to train three to five days per week, with either full body workouts, an upper/lower body split, or a body part split program. My programs have a resistance-based focus, however, most people can also expect to do one to two cardio sessions per week.

I will provide the exercises and number of sets and repetitions. I will also provide cardio workouts, which are usually high-intensity circuit exercises to keep things fun. All my programs are based on solid training principles, with no gimmicks or fitness trends, and will give you long-term results.

Online 6 Week Nutrition and Workout Program – US$150
The best results will come from a complementary nutrition and training plan, both of which are described above. Training will help to sculpt your body, but only if your nutrition is in check. The majority of my clients are currently receiving both nutrition and workout programs. This combined program will cover six weeks of training and nutrition.

Online 12 Week Metabolic Repair Nutrition and Workout Program – US$250
In conjunction with the metabolic repair nutrition plan outlined above, this package also includes 12 weeks of workouts. This will include two completely different six-week workout programs, one of which will be designed at the beginning of the period and one half-way through.

Nutrition and Workout Program Renewal – US$75
This option is for those that have already completed a six-week nutrition and workout program only. It includes a brand new training program, as well as a modification of your existing nutrition program.

Group Training: I run training programs for small groups of 15 every two months via Facebook. Please contact me for more information.

Testimonials

Stephanie:
When I stumbled upon Tara’s blog it was perfect timing. I had hit a plateau in my workout routine, felt overtrained, disappointed, frustrated and weak despite all the hard work I was putting in. I had never spoke with a personal trainer before and felt nervous, I’m glad it was her – she is so nice and patient! She designed a program specifically for me (goals and needs in mind) and is always going above and beyond to answer questions and give suggestions asap. I’ve never felt so strong, energetic and confident in my life. I’ve made some exciting progress, all with the equipment I have in my own home, a nutrition plan and Tara’s killer workouts. I cannot thank her enough! I would recommend Tara to anybody and everybody 🙂

Julie:
A little under a year ago I was in a major workout rut. I stopped seeing any progress – I had measly chicken arms, a pancake booty & I was doing cardio like a madwoman. I was exhausted, muscleless & at my breaking point. I had always been a huge fan of Tara’s – she is smart, funny & legitimately knows her stuff about the fitness industry. I sent her an email asking her if she would like to practice her virtual training on me and let me be her experiment.

We were both excited about it and after a thorough consultation regarding my fitness goals & my current routine she put together a fantastic nutrition and lifting program. Tara cut back my cardio, increased my calories & focused on lifting heavy weights. I was resistant at first (as any silly cardio queen would be) but Tara was/is always there to answer questions, support you with positive reinforcement, adjust the program to your liking & push you to your max effort.

Of course I was cursing her every morning in the weight room but after several months I’ve seen amazing strength gains, great physique changes & I finally have a booty and upper body definition. I am more confident than ever in my skin and I know that although I have a long way to go to achieve the physique I have in mind, Tara will be there to guide me the whole way. I’m excited to continue on my fitness journey with Tara because of her passion & dedication to being the best trainer she possibly can be – her love for health & fitness shines through and I’m proud to call her my trainer and friend. If you want to get serious about your training I highly suggest you talk to Tara!

Brandi:
At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with a common hormonal imbalance called polycystic ovarian syndrome. Being an extremely active athlete throughout most of my life, I never experienced many of the common issues associated with PCOS. Once I embarked on my journey to higher education, I became strict with my studies and let my fitness slip away. I succeeded with my schooling and completed my licensing as a Registered Optician in 2010. PCOS had already affected me by causing unexplained weight gain and feelings of fogginess on a daily basis. I began exercising daily doing endless amounts of cardio and began experimenting with my diet by trying vegetarian, vegan, and ketogenic thinking these diets would lead me to the an optimum level of health. I was starting to cut calories while exercising more and my body began fighting against me. After seeing several doctors and then a naturopath, I became discouraged that no one could help me restore my health.

I came across Tara’s blog and was so moved by her compassion and love for helping others. I became her client in September 2012 with a nutrition and training program. Tara has honestly changed my life. I say this is in the most heartfelt way. I encompassed her philosophy “lift heavy” which I am now so passionate about. We share the same hormonal imbalance which makes my connection with Tara unique. With unlimited e-mail interactions, she always supported me when I needed her. She is so patient and kind in every way imaginable. The days where I felt low, she showed me the positive and the days where I hit a PR, she celebrated with me. Tara has taught me that my lifestyle is a journey and patience results in sustainable lifelong changes.

Several months later, I’ve gained muscle, strength and lost fat by training with heavy weights and eating a customized diet based on my nutritional needs and lifestyle.  This lifestyle is now a passion of mine and I look forward to what the future holds. Every time I step into the gym I feel empowered and confident. Whatever your goals are, Tara can customize a plan just for you. Before you attempt some diet fad or endure hours of cardio, save yourself the trouble and become a client of Tara’s.

I will never be able to express enough gratitude to Tara. I am proud to be a client of Tara’s and to call her my friend. She is an exceptional trainer and individual and she will change your mind and body.

Sarah:
I have been working with Tara on both my programming and nutrition for the past year, and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was coming from a place of really disordered eating habits, and Tara has helped me to completely change the way I fuel my body. By working with Tara I have gained not only physical strength, but mental strength as well.

In the last year Tara has been such an enormous help in giving me amazing workouts that have helped me to achieve goals that seemed a bit impossible. Between helping me with my diet and getting me prepared and ready for two strong(wo)man shows, I never would have gotten this far without her help and guidance. For that matter, I probably never would have even tried strong(wo)man, and found a sport that I love! I am incredibly thankful for all the support and knowledge Tara has given me over the past year.

Sarah in action!

Krista:
I have been working with you for almost a year (!) and can’t believe the progress I’ve made- the mental progress even more than the physical.

I came to you whining about wanting to look lean, lose weight, and gain muscle – all while trying to fix a broken metabolism due to years of restricting/purging and disordered eating mentality.

You’ve been so patient (perhaps some placating to assuage my neurotic self, too!) with every rant I had about wanting instant gratification to fix my body I spent years abusing. I knew I had to trust the process, even if I had my doubts and defeats along the way.

A few months ago I wrote to you that something finally clicked about actually lifting heavy weights, and I must say I am still making gains in strength and body composition. I got a new PR on DL- 155! Per the exrx table, I am past the novice weights and close to intermediate for all lifts! I also have lost around 6 lbs and have maintained this weight for a couple months now, even with holiday treats! Overall I have gained only about 10lbs but I am loving the way my body is responding and how I look! I only weigh myself out of curiosity every couple of months, but otherwise go by how I feel. I think my body is finally coming around thanks to you, heavy weights, and normal eating! Most importantly, those crazy internal thought processes on wanting to restrict and purge have dissipated to almost nothing!

I can’t thank you enough Tara! For your patience and wisdom the past year to the great workout plans. Thank you so very much!

krista

Andrea:
Tara has been pivotal in my pursuit of weight training.   At the outset, prior to my even starting a program with her, she was remarkably friendly, accessible and patient with all my questions.  Tara’s attitude towards new lifters essentially welcomed me into the weight room, and now her programs and continued support keeps me both inspired and able to work harder.  I consider every personal best to be her victories as well as mine, as I can’t imagine being able to progress as I have without her guidance and encouragement.

Theodora:
Tara knows how to push me to my limits every time. Every new workout plan she gives me is even better then the last. Thanks to her, I’m now one step closer to the body I’ve dreamed of. I couldn’t recommend Tara any more!

Jessica:
I first reached out to Tara for training advice because I needed some motivation in my workouts; I had never talked to a trainer before, and I had been lifting heavy for a little over a year.  Until Tara, I had either created my own workouts or done one from BodyBuilding.com (ie: Jamie Eason’s Live Fit) but I wanted a change- I wanted a workout that was designed for me, my goals, and one that was a program rather than a random collection of upper body exercises I decided to compile that day.  Despite my plethora of questions, Tara was super friendly, quick to respond, and thorough with her emails.  I never felt short-changed or unimportant when it came to my workout and meal plans.  Being an online customer, it is rare to feel this taken care of and important!

After completing two back to back six-week programs with Tara, I feel stronger and have seen visible evidence of my strength gains.  I am able to squat heavier, to deadlift with better form, and to say that I am not as dependent on machines as I had felt before.  Also, I learned different patterns of lifting – pyramid structures, different body part combinations, and new exercises that target my “problem areas” unlike others I had seen on my own.  Even though I am no longer working with Tara, I have gained so much knowledge from working with her and know my workouts and view on strength training will never be the same!
Avely:
I started working with Tara six months ago and as dramatic as it sounds, she has changed my life! I have always been into health and fitness but somewhere along the way I became obsessed with eating extremely healthy and working out religiously.  I worked out an hour and a half a day, 6-7 days a week and followed a strict diet. Although I thought I was being healthy in reality I was very unhappy and felt alone and isolated. One day I came across Tara’s blog and knew that I needed to make a change for myself.
Since day one she has been an amazing support system for me through my difficult journey and has always been there to support me and offer advice when needed. She listened to what my goals were and created a workout and nutritional plan that worked for me. I was hesitant at first with some of the changes she made to my diet and exercise but I can honestly say that I am so much happier now. She is always available to answer any questions or concerns you have and knows how to create programs that keep you interested and motivated. Before I started with Tara I always felt like going to the gym was an obligation and something I had to do. Now I love going to the gym and look forward to my workouts all day long.
My only complaint with Tara is that she lives across the world and can’t train me in person. If you have specific fitness goals or simply want to enjoy and be challenged with your workouts I would recommend you contact Tara!

Hi Vera. I have a level two and level three UK personal trainer certification, which included a nutritional component. I am not a certified nutritionist or anything like that. Most of what I have learnt is through experience working with a bodybuilding coach. I write nutritional programs for more than five registered dieticians, so I hope that counts for something! I am also head of nutrition at the studio I work for, and I am the nutritionist at one of the top junior tennis academies in England. Please let me know if you need any more information.

    Hi Tara:
A lot of what you write about metabolic damage resonates with me but I am not 100% sure if this exactly my case. I eat very healthy and exercise at what I consider to be normal levels–just over a month ago started doing more lifting. However, i am very frustrated that despite my healthy clean eating I have noticed that my butt and thighs have gotten bigger rather than smaller. I’d love to discuss a bit more before purchasing to see what the right plan might be.

Hi, I have a quick question I hope you can answer.
I am a slim girl, but I’ve joined gym recently because I’ve put on weight but my belly is getting larger which I would like to get rid of.
I had started eating well and doing cardio in gym. I have now discovered that doing resistance and weights are a better way to lose fat and can build muscles at the same time. I would like to build musclesand sculpt (as I am slim and quite weak), and I dont want to become very bulky.

My confusion is how should I be eating? I’ve cut out junk food, fried food, sugar etc… in order to lose my belly, but dont people eat more to be able to build muscle? If I eat more wouldn’t it all go back on me as fat?
    Pls let me know, Thanks.

Hi! I emailed you but am wondering if I got the right email. I am interested in the metabolism healing + fitness and nutrition program. I currently way around 1350 a day and run five days a week, or walk 6 days a week (about 6 miles at 4.5 mph for the walks).
I know that I need to increase caloric intake, but am unsure if I hurt my metabolism. Do you think this would be beneficial for me? And also, is there a money back guarantee, or how do I know if this is going to work for me? Thanks so much 🙂

    Hey Tara!

I have a history of eating disorders (recovered for a handful of years and at a healthy weight now!) and want nothing more than to know I can boost my caloric intake to what it probably should be (1600, as opposed to my 1300-1400 daily) without gaining weight! As you can imagine, my fear is weight gain. I want so badly to be healthy and freed of the constant worry that eating and exercising cause. I am afraid to boost my daily intake for fear of gaining weight and being sent into accidental relapse due to any gain. Is it possible to start eating like I should without gaining weight? I would like to lose about ten pounds (I would still be at a healthy weight, no worries!)…is this possible? Your advice would be much appreciated!
